Disgaea Card Battle: Info and Card Preview

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 25, 2008

About a year or two ago, me and a friend of mine began working on a fan made Disgaea Card Game, however we were too busy, in total about 30 cards were made before we put it on hiatus, sadly, during this time the computer crashed and all of the cards stored were lost, I have decided to start this project up again for the Disgaea fans.

So here’s a preview of the front side of a character card, let’s start with my favorite shall we?

You’re probably wondering why the name is near the upper right of the card. There is a good explanation for that. My friend thought “Meh, if we let them name their character, people might go overboard.” True, we’d have to use name-specific cards at some point in time. However, now you can name your character while the cards only effect their Job, not their name.

I will be working on the cards from time to time, as these ones will take a whole lot of time starting with the characters. I have to multiply each stat by their Aptitude % for each level gain, so game-play wise, this card game will be canon to the video game itself. Geo Panels, Throwing, Prinny Explosions, all of it will be put in here. Even some unique styles only for this card game.

Beckett Yu-Gi-Oh! Collector not doing so well.

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 16, 2008

According to The Abridged Series’s website, they got a request from someone who works at Beckett. She told Littlekuriboh that the Becket Yu-Gi-Oh! Collector Magazine isn’t doing so well, I’d like to take this moment to do the same thing Littlekuriboh did. I recommend that all of you who love Yu-Gi-Oh and collect the cards, to check out this magazine, it’s quite good, so check it out for yourself. I have a few issues too, while I don’t sell my cards, it’s still a very good magazine for news and previews.

Nexon lets the players have a Maple Story card of THEIR Maple Story character.

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 15, 2008

A few days ago, Nexon announced a contest where the top 20 players in the game would be voted in a poll by other players. This poll is for the most voted ones to be created into a Maple Story iTrading Card Game card! The contest ends July 8, 2008.

Sadly, I doubt any new players or lazy players will be getting in this, though I’d love to see the turn out.

Next UFS Sets Confirmed

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 15, 2008

The next two sets are a Soul Calibur set including Soul Calibur IV characters; the name of this set is still unknown at this time, however the other set name is confirmed; SNK: The King of Fighters. That’s right, a whole set based on many different King of Fighters games, Soiree and Maxima also make an appearance in this set; who knows, we may even see characters from XI!

Also, the half license that I heard was apparently cut off, is actually still in the works, while I do know what this half license is, I will not tell anyone.

Time to beat Shredder, the illegal way!

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 4, 2008

As we were younger, we all used to love watching TV.
Especially when our favorite Saturday morning cartoons were on!

Heck, we loved our favorite cartoons so much we would BEG our parents to buy the
toys of our favorite cartoon characters.

Now, obviously, with every popular thing, there are fake things out there at
dollar stores and second hand stores.

I have a hobby involving this kind of stuff; whenever I’m at a
dollar store, if I see obviously fake trading card knock-offs, I will get them
with the soul purpose of seeing how amusing they are. I’ve bought Yu-Gi-Oh,
Pokemon, Digimon, Batman, heck, my friend knew about this hobby and decided to
try it, he even bought fake Spongebob cards that played like an over-powered
version of Yu-Gi-Oh.

Now I have seen……

TMNT 2006 Cards!

Seriously, first off, I can’t tell you how much I laughed when I saw this,
especially with a PINK logo, man, I should have bought all the different decks
because there was 3 different boxes, same decks, different boxes, one of which
had a pink Ninja Turtle on it.

There are plenty of amusing things involving it at first look, despite the fact
it looks like Michelangelo ate your prozac.

One thing that confused me made me wonder this question…

What the hell is this thing?

Seriously, it’s like some snake trying to catch a guy with it’s fangs!

That isn’t the only thing screwed up with these cards…

What the hell does a compass have to do with the Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles?

Look much more closely at that image as well, not only are the creators creating
fake cards, but they’re pinning the blame…on Gamespot?

Yes, you read that right, the Gamespot logo is on both sides of the card.

Donatello, what does the scouter say about his power level?

Another amusing note, is that this set of cards does NOT
include a how to play book or sheet of paper.

It’s basically an over powered version of Yu-Gi-Oh, even Michelangelo’s
power level is over 9000!

Official art, Fan art, heck, even screencaps from the video games are even
used in the art for these cards!

That’s everything I have to say about these hilarious bootlegs, there are even a
few of other cartoons, they even made one of The Incredibles!

You are all so gullible…

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 4, 2008

…..Fooled You! The Guilty Gear set post is just a joke about what someone did on the Wikipedia page for UFS. Someone edited the page to list down Guilty Gear as a new license, listing a few characters, each link; when clicked on leads you to the Wikipedia page for “Gullible”

WikiGuiltyGear

The May card is what I would predict to see if Guilty Gear was released.

Who knows, maybe one day, then we will all rejoice!

The New UFS License is…

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 3, 2008

Guilty Gear! That’s right, everyone’s long awaited and hoped for license has now joined the family of UFS.

I also managed to get a sneak preview at one of the cards.

Quite an amazing character card don’t you think? Finally, someone who does a good job using tokens for an advantage! She’ll go very well with a lot of Water cards, who knows, maybe she’ll even turn Water into a top resource symbol?

My thoughts on the Chaotic TCG

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 3, 2008

For a while, I’ve had people ask me if I liked Chaotic, and they’ve constantly tried getting me into Chaotic. Every time I always say this “No, screw off and stop asking”.

My thoughts about Chaotic are that it’s a viral marketed Trading Card Game that 4Kids constantly edits the Wikipedia page for Chaotic to ensure that it has a good reputation.

Now, here is something that was said before.

Although new, Chaotic shows a new spin to the old Trading card game. Currently, the number of people playing Chaotic is over 60,000 and continues to grow at a rapid pace. With its easy to understand game play and online gaming (new for any TCG), Chaotic may be the first of a whole new generation of card games.

The new generation of card games is virally marketed? Now, it may not be just 4Kids doing all this, we also have a bunch of ass-kissers on the official Chaotic forums who try to get rid of any truth about Chaotic’s viral marketing techniques.

First off, the Criticism piece from the Reception section on the Wiki page, has been completely removed, so get ready for the truth everyone.

Chaotic first planned to produce the game around 2006, instead, they got people psyched up about it
and quickly smashed their hopes. After a year of lying about the release date, the game was finally released. During this time of lies, more official pictures were shown of what would be an awesome game, with excellent graphics, and completely in FLASH, which is not what Chaotic was. Many of us, even me, believed the game was excellent and bought a deck and a few packs before the release, quite a few of my friends did too. Sadly, our hopes were crushed by the bullshit they have as their game now. What we were shown was not what we were given, and it is still shown today on their products to get kids psyched about how awesome it looks. That was their target audience, as is the main target audience with kids who watch the show; however a lot of teens and adults play this game as well, some don’t mind the change, others like me however, do.

Another problem that is brought up is the fact that it’s a game that’s supposed to be in Flash. Why do we need a high quality graphics card to play a game with simply pictures of cards? Is it the special effects they added? I doubt it, even with special effects, the graphics are worse than Diablo, not that I’m saying I hate Diablo or anything, but even Diablo had better graphics than Chaotic.

In my entire view, Chaotic is nothing but a virally marketed fad that kids and teenagers became suckers for, the game itself does have a solid gameplay, I will give it that, but loses a huge amount of points for the way it’s marketed and the way they turned the online game into. I was hoping for an actual revolutionary card game; just like it was said to be, instead, they stopped focusing on the online game and turned it into crap.

UFS Canadian Nationals 2008 Report

Posted by darkkittenproductions on June 1, 2008

Alright, so here is a report of the Canadian Nationals 2008 held at Anime North.

Of course, this isn’t a player report, it’s a judge report.

First off, we waited to get our awesome event passes of awesomness
Then it’s off to the event location. Sadly, a couple of the guys were late so me and my friend decided to help Jonathan go to his car and pick up the prize support and awesome posters.

After going around the dealer’s room Friday for a bit, I stopped at artist’s ally, which I planned to stop by the Udon Booth to get a card autographed to be added to the first place prize. Lucky for me, the artist was there. Jonathan was pretty surprised to see that I managed to get it autographed when I came back.

Saturday was the most busy day of the event, Jonathan was much quicker than me and Jay when it came to people calling for a Judge, seriously, I swear that guy’s a ninja.

Unfortunately I couldn’t be there for the top 8 and Final 4, I had a few other matters to attend too, but it was a great weekend, especially when it came to seeing the cosplayers.

You can also see a video I recorded at the Canadian Nationals in the Videos Section.

Who doesn’t want one of these awesome things?

We had quite a few players, and we even had a Terry Bogard
cosplayer!

“Are You Okay? BUSTAH WOLF!”

Seriously though, every time I checked up on the players and
checked up on this guy,

I kept saying “Are you okay? Okay!” in a Terry voice.

I had a lot of fun judging at this event, and meeting the other event organizers and chatting with a few of the players, especially taking one of Hatman’s hats for a bit.
In the end it was Jon Herr who made it to first place, and I congratulate him on a job well done.
